Putting batch and expiry date into the code

One barcode can carry the item number (01), batch (10), expiry date (17) and serial number (21). The scanner separates them and passes them to the software as individual fields.

For pharma, food and chemical stores this removes manual entry errors and makes it easier to track goods nearing expiry.
