Why a code will not scan: 7 reasons

The cause is often not the scanner but the print, the label or the settings.

The usual suspects: faint print, scratched or wet labels, glare, wrong size, missing quiet zone, the code type being disabled in the scanner, and the wrong distance.

First scan a different label: if it reads, the problem is the label; if not, look at the scanner or its settings.
